APPREHENSION. IN A REALLY BIG WAY: "Well let's see it took me 15 years to make up my mind. is that apprehension enough? We went to a seminar about 15 years ago, when I first decided on doing the RK at that time. Then it took me up until September 2, of 1997 to make up my mind I wanted to do it. finally went through the surgery (LASIK). I was very nervous. My biggest fear was going blind. That was what held me off as long as it did. Since I've had the surgery, there's been a lot of changes in my life. It's been a wonderful experience. It been a, 'no pun on words', a miracle in my eyes, because it's changed my life so much. I feel like I'm not hiding anymore behind my glasses, which I did for a long time."
LITTLE, TEE-TINY DISCOVERY: "Well I do a lot of crafts and stuff. I had gone to the store and had bought all these little tee-tiny shells, and you know it's kind of expensive to buy all these white shells at the store. After I had the surgery, I noticed that I had the shells in my own backyard in my own dirt. Before I had the surgery, they just looked like specks in the dirt. I never really noticed what they were, even with my glasses on. But since the surgery, I went out there, and it was like 'oh, look!' I have these little shells all over my yard."
THE JOY OF REAL SUNGLASSES: "With us being in the boating business, being on the water all the time, not having to switch from sunglasses to glasses, being able to wear real sunglasses, I went out and spent a hundred bucks on real sunglasses, because I had never had, it's been years, how many years, since I've had a pair of real sunglasses."
THE SURGERY: "Everything just went really smooth. I went into surgery and was in-and-out in 40 minutes, with the surgery on both eyes. There was no pain. No discomfort at all. But the thing that they put on your eye to hold your eye open, that hurt a little bit, but that was it. And one time I felt a little pressure on one eye, and that's it. Other than that, you feel nothing. The experience itself was great.
IMMEDIATE RESULTS: "Yeah, I'd go through it again! And I recommend it to people left and right. And got my Mom in here. It's such a wonderful experience. Once you go to that point. and you have the surgery, for me, its been, I just can't tell you. It's been so exciting for me. My whole attitude has changed. and no more coke bottles. I had my surgery almost 2 years ago, and I came out with 20/20 vision. As soon as I came out of the surgery, I could see right then. I mean it's immediate. It's not like there's any long waiting. I could have gone to work the next day. I took 2 days off, not knowing. and I could have gone to work the next day."
