The technique for clear lens extraction involves removing the natural lens of the eye by the use of ultrasound. In most cases, the focusing power of the natural lens is restored by replacing the natural lens with an intraocular lens implant. Following the procedure, patients may lose the ability to accommodate from distance to near vision and reading glasses are usually required.
