Allegretto LASIK

Providing State of The Art Technology
LASIK Laser Vision Correction (Laser Eye Surgery)

Seltzer Eye & Laser Center has been dedicated to providing the best possible technology for all types of laser vision correction or laser eye surgery. The excimer laser has provided the vehicle that competent ophthalmologists needed to create better vision. The Excimer Laser is without a doubt one of the greatest creations in modern day ophthalmology. This laser is the machine that actually corrects your prescription during LASIK surgery. Because laser vision correction is based on the microscopic removal of corneal tissue at the molecular level, it is impossible to achieve this type of accuracy manually. No other device has provided patients the opportunity to reduce or eliminate their dependency on glasses and contacts before the advent of the excimer laser in ophthalmology. Some people in eye care may perceive laser technology to be the same, but there are often tremendous differences between one laser versus another. The Allegretto Wave LASER has definite technological advancements and is different than the VISX Star 2, Alcon/s Ladarvision and Bausch & Lomb/s Technolas laser. (Not to be confused either with ALL-LASER Lasik or blade-free LASIK known as Intralase)

What about large optical zones?

ALLEGRETTO WAVE is capable of producing some of the largest available optical zones. The optical zone refers to the portion of the cornea that has been corrected by the laser. A larger optical zone is especially important for night driving, and for patients with very large pupils. If a patient’s pupil is larger than the optical zone, they may experience poor peripheral vision, poor night vision, and a higher than normal incidence of haloes, and glare. In the past, this has been one of the biggest drawbacks to conventional laser correction surgery. Wavefront-optimized technology built into ALLEGRETTO WAVE addresses this limitation.

Night Driving Vision

At night and in dark conditions, the pupil becomes larger to permit the maximum amount of light to enter the eye. Laser eye correction needs to take this fact into account. If the optical zone is smaller than the size of the pupil at its largest, there is a good chance that the patient will experience poor night vision or problems with glare and haloes around bright objects such as oncoming headlights. ALLEGRETTO WAVE is able to produce a larger optical zone, virtually eliminating glare and night vision problems associated with older generation lasers.
